White, Diagne Power Raiders Past Tallahassee State
NICEVILLE, Fla. — No. 6 Northwest Florida State women's basketball responded in a big way Saturday night, avenging an earlier loss to Tallahassee State with a convincing 63–45 victory inside Raider Arena. The win was fueled by an elite all-around performance from Khoudia Diagne and a dominant second-half surge from Jadah White.
Diagne continued her outstanding season with a complete stat line, pouring in 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting while adding seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks. Her presence on both ends of the floor anchored the Raiders throughout the contest.
White provided the spark that broke the game open after halftime. After an 0-for-8 shooting effort in the first half, White caught fire in the second, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including two three-pointers. She accounted for half of Northwest Florida's third-quarter scoring, helping the Raiders build a double-digit lead heading into the fourth before continuing her hot streak to put the game away.
Northwest Florida set the tone early with defensive intensity, holding Tallahassee State scoreless for the opening three minutes while forcing turnovers and contesting shots in the paint. A layup from Ka'Zharia Johnson gave the Raiders their first points, and a 9–0 run midway through the opening quarter—highlighted by a three from Aurora Toyomasu and free throws by Kamryn Corporan—pushed the lead to 10–4. Diagne later knocked down a three of her own, and Johnson added a late basket to give Northwest Florida a 15–6 advantage after one.
The Raiders maintained control in the second quarter, answering each Tallahassee State push with timely baskets. Carrington Jones finished through contact, Corporan converted off a steal, and Diagne continued to dominate inside as Northwest Florida carried a 27–19 lead into halftime. Defensive rebounding and pressure in the passing lanes prevented the Eagles from finding any sustained rhythm.
The third quarter proved to be the turning point. After Tallahassee State cut the deficit to three, Northwest Florida responded with a decisive 12–4 run. White knocked down a key three, Diagne scored inside and at the free-throw line, and the Raiders stretched the margin to 41–31 entering the final period.
Northwest Florida put the game out of reach early in the fourth. White scored on back-to-back possessions, Corporan buried a three, and the Raiders extended the lead beyond 20 while locking in defensively and closing the game at the free-throw line.
After struggling offensively in the first half, shooting just 35.5 percent, the Raiders flipped the script after the break, connecting on 47.8 percent of their shots in the second half. Northwest Florida also evened the rebounding battle, forced 23 turnovers that turned into 23 points, and capitalized on 10 second-chance points.
The Raiders will enjoy a short break before returning to action next Wednesday, when they travel to Pensacola to face the Pirates. Northwest Florida claimed the first meeting between the two teams earlier this month and will look to make it two straight on the road.
