Raiders Explode for 30 Runs in Doubleheader Wins Over Bishop State

 

MOBILE, Ala. — Northwest Florida softball delivered a dominant performance on Monday, overpowering Bishop State with back-to-back shutouts, 10–0 and 20–0, in a decisive road sweep.

The Raiders' offense was relentless throughout the day, totaling 30 runs on a balanced attack. Twelve different players recorded hits, with seven posting multi-hit performances. Hailey Henry, Karson McGowan, and Bre Hughes led the charge with four hits each. Henry was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in a team-high six RBIs, while Hughes went 4-for-7 with five RBIs. Despite not hitting a home run in either game, Northwest Florida racked up nine extra-base hits.

In the circle, the Raiders were just as impressive. The pitching staff combined to allow only four hits across 10 scoreless innings, striking out nine.

 

Game One: Northwest Florida 10, Bishop State 0

Northwest Florida broke things open in the third inning, scoring five runs on five hits. Bre Hughes drove in a run with a single, Nyla Tretau added a two-run double, and Jaci Gary followed with a two-run single to give the Raiders a commanding lead.

The Raiders added four more runs in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a wild pitch, a two-run double from Hughes, and an RBI single from McGowan to reach the 10-run mark.

Marlee Parsons earned the win, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out four without issuing a walk.

Northwest Florida finished with 11 hits, led by McGowan's 3-for-4 performance. Hughes drove in three runs, while Gary added two hits. The Raiders also played clean defense, turning a double play and committing no errors.

 

Game Two: Northwest Florida 20, Bishop State 0

The Raiders' offense reached another level in game two, erupting for 20 runs in a run-rule victory.

Hailey Henry led the way with a dominant performance, driving in six runs on four hits. She doubled in two runs in the first inning, singled in another in the fourth, and later added a bases-clearing triple.

Northwest Florida jumped out early with a five-run first inning, highlighted by Henry's two-run double and a two-run single from Bre Hughes. The Raiders continued to build their lead in the second before breaking the game wide open with an 11-run fourth inning.

The big inning featured contributions throughout the lineup, including RBIs from Jena LeCamus, AJ Vineski, Mallory Baker, and Kori Travis, along with Henry's three-run triple.

Mallory Baker earned the win, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings. Isabelle Warrick added a shutout inning in relief to complete the combined effort.

The Raiders piled up 18 hits in the game, with multiple hits from Hughes, Baker, Julie Stevens, and Vineski. Northwest Florida also showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks in the contest.

With the sweep, the Raiders continue to showcase one of the most explosive offenses in the region, paired with a pitching staff that has been nearly untouchable.
