Raiders Sweep Tallahassee, Extend Winning Streak to Seven
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Northwest Florida State softball stayed red-hot on Wednesday, sweeping Tallahassee with 8–0 and 9–1 victory to extend its winning streak to seven games and improve to 39–3 on the season.
Game One: Northwest Florida 8, Tallahassee 0
The Raiders wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for eight runs in the first inning to take complete control.
Karson McGowan got things started with a two-run home run to center, while AJ Vineski added a two-run single. Julie Stevens chipped in with an RBI double, and Falyn Beebe capped the inning with a two-run single. An error also contributed to the big frame as Northwest Florida built an early 8–0 advantage.
Savannah Carter was dominant in the circle, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits. The right-hander struck out six and walked one in the run-rule victory.
Offensively, the Raiders spread the production throughout the lineup, with Haley Hughes, McGowan, Nyla Tretau, Stevens, Vineski, and Beebe each recording a hit. McGowan, Vineski, and Beebe led the way with two RBIs apiece. Northwest Florida also showed discipline at the plate with four walks and played clean defense, turning a double play without committing an error.
Game Two: Northwest Florida 9, Tallahassee 1
Northwest Florida carried that momentum into game two, jumping out early once again. Falyn Beebe drove in two runs in the first to open the scoring, and Hailey Henry added a sacrifice fly in the second to make it 3–0.
Jaci Gary extended the lead with a solo home run in the third, while Tallahassee answered with a run in the fourth. The Raiders quickly responded, as Carter and McGowan each drove in runs to push the lead to 6–1.
Northwest Florida put the game away in the fifth inning, using an RBI single from Allison Farnsworth and a bases-loaded walk from Carter to secure the run-rule win.
Mallory Baker earned the win, allowing one run on four hits over five innings while striking out five. She also led the offense, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. The Raiders totaled 12 hits in the game, with Farnsworth and Carter each driving in two runs. Haley Hughes and McGowan added multiple hits, while the team was aggressive on the bases, swiping seven stolen bases.
With the sweep, Northwest Florida continues its dominant stretch, showcasing a balanced attack at the plate, strong pitching, and aggressive base running.
