Raiders Stay Hot, Sweep Reid State on the Road

 

EVERGREEN, Ala. — More than a quarter through the regular season and Northwest Florida State softball remains after sweeping a road doubleheader against Reid State Tuesday to improve to 16–0 on the year.

Game One: Northwest Florida 11, Reid State 0

Northwest Florida rolled to an 11–0 victory in the opener behind a dominant offensive outburst and strong pitching. Jaci Gary powered the Raiders, driving in five runs on two hits. Gary delivered a three-run double and followed it with a two-run home run to left field during a decisive fourth inning.

Marlee Parsons was dominant in the circle, striking out 10 while allowing just two hits and no runs across four innings. Bre Hughes got the Raiders on the board early with a solo home run in the first inning.

The Raiders broke the game open in the fourth, sending 10 runs across the plate. Gary's home run and double highlighted the inning, while Hughes, Nyla Tretau, Falyn Beebe, Karson McGowan, and a wild pitch all contributed to the scoring surge.

Northwest Florida finished with 12 hits in the game, with Gary and Beebe recording multi-hit performances. Tretau drew two walks as the Raiders showed discipline at the plate, drawing four free passes overall. The Raiders were flawless defensively, committing no errors.

Game Two: Northwest Florida 15, Reid State 1

The Raiders carried their momentum into the nightcap, earning a 15–1 win fueled by another explosive offensive showing. Haley Hughes led the way, driving in four runs on three hits, including two triples and a solo home run to center field.

Northwest Florida put the game out of reach with a nine-run third inning. The rally featured a home run from Hughes, a two-run double by Gary, a triple from Anna Grace Griggs, two runs scored on an error, another two-run triple from Hughes, and an RBI single from Tretau.

Savannah Carter earned the start in the circle, allowing one hit over three scoreless innings while striking out six. Isabelle Warrick followed with a shutout inning of relief.

The Raiders totaled 14 hits in the game, with Gary, Griggs, and Henry collecting multiple hits. Northwest Florida also drew six walks, continuing its disciplined approach at the plate.
