Northwest Florida Extends Winning Streak to 32 with Two More Wins Over Pensacola State

GAME ONE

Lulu Luedtke launched two home runs and drove in four runs to power the Northwest Florida to an emphatic 11-0 victory over Pensacola State in Saturday's opener. The sophomore slugger went deep in both the first and third innings, sparking an early offensive explosion that the Pirates couldn't overcome.

The Raiders set the tone early with a seven-run first inning. Karson McGowan got things going with an RBI double before Luedtke's first blast of the day—a two-run shot to center—put Northwest ahead 3-0. Falyn Beebe followed with a two-run homer of her own, and RBI singles from Sara Watson and Bre Hughes capped off the massive frame.

Northwest Florida tacked on two more in the second as Hayden Andrews delivered an RBI single to center and Haley Hughes grounded out to bring in another. Luedtke struck again in the third with her second home run of the game, a two-run shot that extended the lead to 11-0.

Cailyn Heyl was dominant in the circle, tossing four no-hit innings while striking out three and walking just one to earn the win. AJ Vineski closed things out with a scoreless fifth.

The Raider bats totaled 13 hits in the contest, with Watson leading the charge, going 3-for-3. Multiple-hit efforts from Hughes, McGowan, Beebe, and Andrews highlighted the depth of the lineup. Sister Arnold drew three walks, and the team as a whole displayed excellent plate discipline with four total free passes. Defensively, the Raiders were flawless, committing no errors, with Hughes recording five putouts.

GAME TWO

Northwest Florida carried their momentum into game two, cruising past Pensacola State once again with a 12-1 win to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Bre Hughes got the scoring started early with a solo home run to center field in the first inning, setting the tone for another dominant offensive performance.

A six-run third inning blew the game open for the Raiders. Hughes lifted a sac fly to score one, Beebe roped a two-run double, Haley Hughes added an RBI single, and Anna Grace Griggs capped the frame with a two-run single.

Pensacola managed a solo home run in the fourth from Gabbie York, but it was the lone blemish against Raider pitching.

Northwest Florida responded with another five-run burst in the bottom half of the fourth. Hailey Henry and AJ Vineski each drove in runs with singles, and Julie Stevens delivered a two-run double to put the game firmly out of reach.

Mallory Baker picked up the win in the circle, allowing just three hits and one run across four innings, striking out three without issuing a walk. Bre Barnes closed the door in the fifth, striking out two in a scoreless frame.

Griggs and Sister Arnold each had two hits in the win, while Hughes, Stevens, Beebe, Griggs, and Vineski all recorded two RBIs apiece. Once again, the Raiders were sharp defensively with no errors committed. Luedtke led the team in fielding chances with five.

With the sweep, Northwest Florida improves to 48-2 overall and 14-0 in conference play. They also extend their overall winning streak to 32 games, and home winning streak to 56 games, dating back to 2023.
