Torres Dominant, Raiders Roll Past Pensacola in Run-Rule Shutout
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Behind a dominant outing on the mound from Aiden Torres and an explosive performance at the plate, Northwest Florida cruised to an 11–0 five-inning shutout win over Pensacola on Thursday.
The Raiders' offense was firing from the start, racking up 11 runs on 16 hits. Every player in the lineup recorded a hit, with Angel Santiago and Nathan Nance leading the way with three hits apiece. Orlando Fernandez, Xavier Rivera, and Kaiden Linares each added multiple hits as Northwest Florida put constant pressure on the Pirates' pitching staff.
Torres was equally impressive on the mound, delivering a shutout performance while allowing just three hits and striking out five. The right-hander improved to 6–0 on the season with the win.
Northwest Florida jumped out early in the first inning, taking a 2–0 lead on a two-run single from B. Clayton that scored Fernandez and Santiago.
The Raiders added to their lead in the second. A. Quigley brought in a run with a groundout before Santiago delivered an RBI triple. Moments later, Fernandez extended the lead to 6–0 with a two-run home run to left field.
The offense stayed aggressive in the third, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to push another run across and make it 7–0.
Northwest Florida continued to pour it on in the fifth, adding two more runs behind an RBI single from Linares and a bases-loaded walk to stretch the lead to 9–0.
The Raiders capped off the scoring in the final inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Quigley that helped seal the run-rule victory.
With contributions throughout the lineup and a commanding performance on the mound, Northwest Florida delivered one of its most complete wins of the season in the shutout victory.
