Raiders Sweep Saturday Doubleheader Against Motlow
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Northwest Florida State baseball continued its strong start to the season Saturday, earning a pair of run-rule victories over Motlow State to complete a four-game sweep of the Bucks. The Raiders' offense and pitching were in sync throughout the day, outscoring Motlow 26–1 across the doubleheader to improve to 8–4 on the season heading into a 10-game homestand.
Game One: Northwest Florida 15, Motlow 0 (5 innings)
Sam Bradley powered the Raiders in the opener, driving in four runs on two hits, highlighted by a first-inning grand slam to right field. Northwest Florida wasted no time jumping ahead, erupting for 10 runs in the opening frame to take full control of the game.
Anthony Quigley and Orlando Fernandez each doubled in the inning, while Nathan Nance added an RBI single. A wild pitch and a second RBI double by Fernandez capped the early scoring surge. Brock Clayton added to the cushion in the third inning, blasting a two-run home run to right field.
Tucker Delisle earned the start for the Raiders and was dominant, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out four and walking three. KJ Hart provided strong relief, tossing a shutout inning and striking out three.
Northwest Florida totaled 11 hits in the game, with Quigley, Fernandez, Nance, and Bradley each recording two. The Raiders were flawless defensively, committing no errors, with Clayton leading the team with seven defensive chances.
Game Two: Northwest Florida 11, Motlow 1 (6 innings)
The Raiders stayed hot in game two, cruising to an 11–1 win behind a big day from Quigley, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Quigley homered in the fifth inning, tripled in the fourth, and singled in the third to pace the offense.
Northwest Florida opened the scoring in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Bradley. A walk by Joe Cable pushed the lead to 2–0 in the third, and the Raiders broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning. Nance tripled in a run, Quigley launched a two-run homer, and a wild pitch accounted for the final run of the frame.
King added the finishing touches in the sixth with a two-run home run to right field.
Presley Woodson earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits over five innings while striking out six. Alex Kruse closed things out with a scoreless inning in relief.
Northwest Florida racked up 12 hits in the nightcap, with Fernandez and Nance each collecting multiple hits. Fernandez also swiped two bases as the Raiders totaled six stolen bases on the day. Defensively, Northwest Florida again played error-free baseball, with Cable recording a team-high eight chances in the field.
