NWF drops 2 to top-ranked Chipola

GAME 1 RECAP:

Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but Chipola was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Northwest Florida State College on Saturday. Amber Byrd started the game for Northwest Florida State College and recorded 18 outs.

A single by Maggie Wheless in the fourth inning was a positive for Northwest Florida State College .

Krystal Goodman led things off on the rubber for Chipola. She went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out 11 and walking one.

Byrd was on the mound for Northwest Florida State College . She allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out four.

Wheless, Kayla Harris, and Summer Frye each managed one hit to lead Northwest Florida State College .

Ally Clegg went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Chipola in hits. Chipola didn't commit a single error in the field. Candela Figueroa had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team. Clegg led Chipola with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.

GAME 2 RECAP:

Northwest Florida State College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-0 loss to Chipola on Saturday. Chipola took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

The Northwest Florida State College struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Chipola, giving up eight runs.

Chipola opened up scoring in the first inning, when Jordenne Gaten homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs.

One bright spot for Northwest Florida State College was a single by Brittani Crawford in the second inning.

Morgan Goree got the start for Chipola. She allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five.

Sheala Brown started the game for Northwest Florida State College . She surrendered eight runs on seven hits over three and a third innings, striking out three. Cardaejia Talley threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

Thalia Vieira Da Silva led Northwest Florida State College with two hits in three at bats.

Chipola saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Ally Clegg and Amy Woodham each racked up multiple hits for Chipola.
