NWF holds off Wallace-Dothan as 5-run deficit is nearly erased

Northwest Florida State College built a five-run lead in the third inning and then held off Wallace Dothan's charge for an 8-6 victory on Friday. Wallace Dothan scored five runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Schylur Edwards in the third, a double by Bailee Dempsey in the third, a single by Hannah Peters in the fourth, a fielder's choice by Alexis Sydnor in the fourth, and a single by Paige Smith in the fifth.

Bats blistered as Northwest Florida State College collected nine hits and Wallace Dothan tallied nine in the high-scoring game.

In the first inning, Northwest Florida State College got their offense started. Northwest Florida State College scored two runs when Venice Sanders doubled.

Cardaejia Talley toed the rubber for Northwest Florida State College . She allowed three hits and four runs over three and a third innings, striking out two.

Ashlyn Golden started the game for Wallace Dothan. She went four innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out three. Dempsey threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Northwest Florida State College tallied nine hits in the game. Summer Frye and Kayla Harris each collected multiple hits for Northwest Florida State College . Harris and Frye each collected two hits to lead Northwest Florida State College .

Dempsey went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Wallace Dothan in hits.
