A hit parade and a combined pitching gem? Raiders skipper Doug Martin will gladly take the strong start to 2018.

Miguel Cienfuegos and Brock Mathis slugged homers, Kaden Polcovich drove in four runs and the NWF State baseball team opened the season Thursday with a 14-2 win over Seminole State College in Orlando.

Christian Camacho struck out seven over four scoreless innings of three-hit ball for the Raiders, who outhit Seminole State 16-6 and had zero errors to their opponent's four. Ryan Duncan and Taylor Gibson each combined for a scoreless inning in relief.

The Raiders broke a 3-1 lead into a 6-1 advantage in the sixth inning before tacking on four runs each in the seventh and eighth frames.

Mathis went 4-for-6 with three RBI and two runs and Leo Horacio went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Polkovich added to the multi-hit effort with a 3-for-5 effort with four RBI and Cienfuegos went 2-for-5 with two runs and the solo homer.

Jake Randa walked three times, scored three runs and went 1-for-3 and Kyle Fitzgerald had the final RBI for the Raiders (1-0), who play a doubleheader with Lake-Sumter State College today.
