NWF State baseball, softball lose

For the second time this week, the NWF State softball team was swept in Panhandle Conference play.

Meanwhile the NWF State baseball team lost 11-1 at Pensacola State.

Yep, Thursday was not a bright day for the Raiders on the diamond.

Three nights after being run-ruled by undefeated Chipola in a doubleheader in Niceville, the softball team lost 4-2 and 13-9 at Pensacola State.

Jack Byerley's crew fell to 22-16-1 on the season, the result of an eight-game losing streak. Now the Raiders are 0-4 in the Panhandle as they brace for Saturday's doubleheader at home against Gulf Coast State.

Doug Martin's baseball team, meanwhile, fell to 0-2 in the Panhandle following a six-game win streak.

The Raiders (19-9) next host Pensacola State for a doubleheader on Saturday that begins at 1 p.m. and concludes with the a first pitch at 4.
